Superintendent of Police (SP) South Vinay Sharma has ordered suspension of two cops posted in Bagh-e-Bahu Police Station for illegally putting two girls behind the bars.

As per police sources, two girls were riding pillion withtheir friends on motorcycles in Bagh-e-Bahu area on Wednesday, when two policemen Harpreet Singh and Ranbir Singh, arrested them and put them behind the bars without any fault.

The girls remained in police station for entire night and that too illegally as no FIR was registered against them.

To take stock of the situation during ongoing Navratras at Bawe Wali Mata temple, Sharma visited Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu and found the girls behind the bars illegally.

Taking cognizance of the matter, the SP suspended both the cops and attached them to District Police Line (DPL) Jammu. He also ordered departmental enquiry against the cops.

The girls, however, were later released.
